Several regional surveys on entrepreneurship were conducted throughout the Balkan Mediterranean Area addressing SMEs
During the period February-June 2018, all partners implemented a training needs analysis survey in their territory. External experts have been engaged in order to organize and realize this process, including interviews and focus group survey in the Project area (Greece, Bulgaria, FYROM, Albania, and Cyprus). Surveys, Interviews and Focus groups have been considered as primary research tools.
A survey addressing to company representatives (founders, owners, managers, employees) was conducted with the use of various questions. Indeed, the representatives were asked to evaluate the conditions for establishment, operation and development of companies in the four sectors, and answer questions about the need for training and topics to be covered in the sphere of business operations and ways of realization of these trainings.
Extended interviews were implemented, mainly with experts from the given areas who presented their opinions and assessments about the entrepreneurial process (difficulties in opening up businesses, the link between science and the labor market, the role of lifelong learning and education, strategic priorities in specific areas).
The results and findings of the surveys and interviews include different businesses in the sectors of Agribusiness, Environment & Energy, Information & Communication Technology, and Tourism & Cultural Heritage were presented in Benchmarking Workshops. These findings were discussed with the aim of identifying the specific needs for setting up new businesses.
Following stakeholders’ discussions regarding to possible training fields, most of the proposals and suggestions considered training modules supporting new businesses, including elements related to the legal and fiscal framework.
