Description: The Joint Innovation Centre is a coordination unit for implementing the policy of BAS – in the fields of innovation and patent activities, and project competence. The Centre provides information for applying on EU Structural Funds and the Framework Programme of EU “Horizon 2020” calls and needs based consultations to researchers and SMEs; supports the preparation and implementation of project proposals. JiC-BAS maintains business contacts in the country and abroad concerning innovations and applied research transfer, and supports the establishment of contacts “science – business” and “science – science”.
JiC is a co-founder of the Technology Transfer Office PROINNO. JiC was established in 2005 as CI, restructured in 2010 and renamed to JiC.
COOPERATION
JiC collaborates with institutes and laboratories of BAS, with universities and with similar to JiC European units, as well as, with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian Industrial Association and their regional branches, and with NGOs with similar objectives.
JiC-BAS is a partner in „Enterprise Europe Network” since its beginning of operation – the largest information consultancy network in Europe and worldwide, assisting business and science in the development of their innovation potential. One of the main activities of JiC in „Enterprise Europe Network” is the finding and promoting of scientific and technological research and its offering in a large transnational electronic market, as well as, support for establishing partnerships.
The Centre has been actively participating in the Researchers’ Night activities in Bulgaria since 2011.
JiC-BAS was an associated partner in the project South East Europe SCIENCE providing support in relation to analytical documents preparation, organisation of seminars and round tables, etc with stakeholders. The project aimed at increasing public awareness on the importance of natural sciences, technology and innovation as key determinants of economic growth; the interest of young people for science, technology and innovation, by networking Science Centres in the SEE region and increasing the visibility and accessibility of technical and natural sciences.
The role of JiC-BAS in the BalkanMed INNOVA project: Project Partner
JiC-BAS will have an active role in WP5 on Innovative Ideas & start-ups, JiC-BAS will be responsible for organising the Training of the Trainers and for writing a report in English .
